1. | Makes repairs to electric security controls, fire alarm systems, lights, power circuits, appliances, generators, motors and a variety of other electrical equipment. |
2. | Trouble shoots, locates and corrects power failures and short circuits. |
3. | Installs open and concealed wiring and lighting fixtures. |
4. | Makes emergency repairs to elevators, generators and other electrical apparatus. |
5. | Supervises and instructs assigned inmates, inspects inmates for contraband and maintains security precautions at all times. |
6. | Makes work time estimates and keeps simple records. |
7. | Performs a variety of maintenance tasks as required. |
8. | Performs duties as Correction Officer on a temporary basis, as required, at the discretion of the Sheriff or his designated officer. |
1. | Considerable knowledge of the methods, materials and equipment used in the electrician's trade. |
2. | Knowledge of the New York Board of Fire Underwriters Code and other relevant regulations regarding electrical installations. |
3. | Ability to learn use and care of firearms. |
4. | Skill in the care and use of electrician's tools and equipment. |
5. | Ability to install, alter, maintain and report a variety of electrical apparatus. |
6. | Ability to supervise and instruct inmates and to maintain security precautions. |
7. | Ability to work from and interpret technical sketches and blueprints, and to make work time estimates. |
8. | Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to keep records. |
