* | 1. | Assists the Commissioner of Human Services on administrative matters involving the chemical dependency and mental health treatment communities of Nassau County. |
* | 2. | Consults with and advises the Commissioner on confidential concerns, and on departmental policy and procedures. |
 | 3. | Identifies and secures funding and community resources to be used for treatment. |
* | 4. | Represents the Commissioner of Human Services and serves as the primary liaison in dealings with community-based mental health and chemical dependency treatment agencies. |
 | 5. | Identifies community needs for mental health and chemical dependency treatment services. |
* | 6. | Develops and maintains relationships with the Nassau County Correctional Center, veterans' groups, community-based agencies, schools, and hospitals involved with mental health and chemical dependency treatment. |
* | 7. | Conducts community outreach and targeted outreach to hi-risk populations and fosters inter-agency collaboration. |
* | 8. | Maintains records and prepares reports. |
1. | Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of social casework. |
2. | Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of working with individuals who may have mental, developmental, physical, social and substance abuse disorders and/or disabilities. |
3. | Thorough knowledge of chemical dependency and its treatment and prevention. |
4. | Knowledge of the operations and responsibilities of the Department of Human Services. |
5. | Ability to gather, assemble and evaluate facts and make sound and logical recommendations. |
6. | Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, community group staffs, associates, and the public. |
7. | Ability to express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing. |
