GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, assists in supervising workers and equipment engaged in the collection of refuse and waste; performs related duties as required.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Acts for and in place of the Sanitation Supervisor as required.
2.Assists in assigning daily work and collection routes to workers engaged in refuse collection; dispatches and directs operation of sanitation trucks.
3.Assists in investigating sanitation violation complaints and citizen nuisance complaints and recommends appropriate remedial action.
4.Assists in supervising the care and maintenance of trucks and other equipment.
5.Acts as driver of sanitation truck or assists in collection of refuse and waste as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of equipment, techniques and methods applicable to waste and refuse collection.
2.Considerable knowledge of local sanitation collection routes.
3.Ability to supervise workers engaged in sanitation collection operations.
4.Ability to keep simple records.
5.Ability to understand and follow instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of elementary school and two years of experience in refuse and waste collection operations;
or
2.Satisfactory equivalent combination of training and experience.

Necessary Special Requirement
Possession of an appropriate class, valid driver license issued by the State of New York.
