GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs professional dental work in a County department or institution on a consulting basis; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under supervision, the duties include the performance of professional dental services of a general or specialized nature.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Performs dental examinations, treatment and complete dental care of patients.
2.Performs extractions, fillings, prophylaxis and prosthetics.
3.Examines patients and prepares charts of their dental condition and work performed.
4.Interprets dental x-rays.
5.Participates in the performance of oral surgery.
6.Treats oral diseases and infections.
7.Instructs interns and residents, as assigned.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of dental medicine.
2.Knowledge of community groups, organizations and resources.
3.Ability to exercise sound professional judgment.
4.Ability to establish effective working relationship with patients, associates, and students.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Graduation from an approved school of dentistry.
2.No satisfactory equivalency of training and experience.

Necessary Special Requirement
Possession of a license to practice dentistry in New York State.
