2. | Directs investigations at the scenes of crime or other violent or suspicious deaths. |
3. | Directs the supervision of laboratories and other physical facilities required for investigation. |
4. | Determines cause and manner of death in difficult or novel cases. |
5. | Testifies before grand juries and courts on matters relating to the cause and manner of death. |
6. | Directs the maintenance of a statistical classification of all deaths under his jurisdiction. |
1. | Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, techniques and current developments in the field of pathologic anatomy and clinical pathology. |
2. | Extensive knowledge of the principles, practices, literature, and current developments in the field of forensic medicine, including clinical microscopy, toxicology, ballistics, and investigative techniques. |
3. | Ability to direct, plan, and coordinate the work of a diversified staff of professional and technical personnel. |
4. | Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and law enforcement officers. |
