GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists the Sheriff in coordinating all volunteer services at the Correctional Center; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the exercise of considerable judgment in developing, monitoring, and evaluating volunteer activities.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Initiates, plans, and develops a program of volunteer activities at the Correctional Center.
2.Recruits, orients, and trains members of the community to work as volunteers at the Correctional Center.
3.Monitors and evaluates volunteer activities at the Correctional Center.
4.Assists in setting up therapeutic substance programs.
5.Prepares reports and makes recommendations.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Extensive knowledge of the principles and practices involved in the planning and conduct of volunteer services programs.
2.Thorough knowledge of the social and economic problems and needs of Correctional Center inmates.
3.Thorough knowledge of the basic principles and practices of community organization.
4.Ability to develop administrative procedures and operations for evaluating department's program.
5.Ability to plan, organize, and direct a comprehensive training program.
6.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, the community, and volunteers.
7.Ability to express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university
and
Five years of satisfactory experience in establishing various programs for correctional center inmates or treatment center residents and recruiting and coordinating volunteers to participate.

NOTE:Experience, as outlined above, in excess of the five-year requirement, may be substituted for college education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years.
