GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Performs skilled beautician work in a public institution; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the position requires the use of skill and judgment in beauticians work and the work is reviewed for quality, accuracy and completeness.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Gives permanent waves, scalp and hair treatments, shampoos and other beauty treatments in a shop, ward, cell or at bedside.
2.Cuts hair, gives facial massages and manicures nails.
3.Sterilizes tools and equipment and keeps shop clean and orderly.
4.Inventories and prepares requisitions for supplies and equipment.
5.Performs special beautician services as required.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Considerable knowledge of the methods, techniques and equipment used in the beautician's trade.
2.Skill in the care and use of beautician's tools and equipment.
3.Ability to perform beautician services under difficult conditions and circumstances.
4.Ability to inventory and requisition supplies and equipment.
5.Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
1.Completion of beautician school training;
and
2.One year of satisfactory experience in beautician work.

Necessary Special Requirement
Eligibility for a license as a beautician as issued by the State of New York.
