1. | Operates a school bus on a regular schedule. |
2. | Services automobiles, buses, trucks, and other mobile equipment with proper lubricants, and replenishes gas, oil, and water. |
3. | Inspects and services batteries, changes oil filters, and cleans or changes air filters. |
4. | Drains and refills crankcases and checks and lubricates transmissions, differentials, and rear axle housings. |
5. | Repairs tires, mounts them on wheels, and inflates them to recommended pressures. |
6. | May inspect vehicles for mechanical defects and assist in repairs and mechanical maintenance. |
1. | Considerable knowledge of the operation of buses. |
2. | Knowledge of tools and equipment used in motor vehicle maintenance work. |
3. | Knowledge of automotive equipment. |
4. | Ability to determine by inspection of automotive equipment need for grease, oil, water, and gasoline. |
5. | Ability to assist in making minor mechanical repairs. |
6. | Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions. |
1. | Completion of eighth grade education and One year of satisfactory experience as a gas station attendant; or |
2. | Satisfactory completion of a high school or vocational automotive shop course. |
