GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Assists in directing and supervising the operation and maintenance of a power generating plant; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under general supervision, the duties require the use of independent judgment in assisting in the administrative and supervisory functions associated with the installation and service of prime movers and generators and plant and building maintenance.

TYPICAL DUTIES
*1. Assists in developing effective and economic combinations of equipment for power
generation.
*2. Assists in coordinating operating schedules.
*3. Assists in assigning, supervising, evaluating, and coordinating the work of subordinate supervisors and skilled technicians.
4. Recommends the issuance of requisitions for materials; issues work orders.
*5. Maintains records and prepares reports of plant operations.

*TYPICAL ADA ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Thorough knowledge of the theories and principles of electrical and mechanical engineering and their application to power generation.
2.Thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques used in the operation and maintenance of a power generating plant.
3.Ability to plan and supervise the work of subordinate supervisory and technical personnel.
4.Ability to assist in the development of cost-effective plans for power generation.
5.Ability to read and interpret technical plans and diagrams essential to the operation of a power plant.
6.Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university, with major course work in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering
and
Five years of satisfactory experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a large power generating plant, including or supplemented by two years of work experience in a supervisory capacity.

NOTE:Experience, as outlined above, in excess of the five-year requirement, may be substituted for college education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years, provided that if any college education is to be evaluated it must include courses in the above engineering or engineering technology fields.
