1. | Conducts individual lay-counseling sessions for alcoholic clients and recidivists. |
2. | Conducts lay-counseling sessions to ascertain alcoholic clients' attitudes, insights, and motivations. |
3. | Conducts group lay-counseling sessions for clients. |
4. | Provides lay-counseling for spouse and/or immediate family members of alcoholic clients. |
5. | Maintains records and prepares reports. |
6. | Recommends treatment programs for clients. |
1. | Considerable knowledge of practices and procedures relating to lay-rehabilitation counseling of alcoholics. |
2. | Considerable knowledge of individual and group behavior with special emphasis on the causes, problems, attributes, and attitudes of alcoholics and alcoholism. |
3. | Ability to motivate and establish positive attitudes and to inspire self-confidence and self-esteem in the alcoholic clients. |
4. | Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, their families, and staff members. |
5. | Ability to express oneself effectively, both orally and in writing. |
NOTE: | Experience, as outlined above, in excess of the one-year requirement, may be substituted for college education on a year-for-year basis, up to a maximum of four years. |
