GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Acts as counsel and attorney and renders legal services to the Sanitary District; performs related duties as required.

COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Under direct supervision, the duties require the use of considerable legal judgment.

TYPICAL DUTIES
1.Prepares legislation and supporting memoranda.
2.Prepares local ordinances and supporting memoranda.
3.Researches and prepares legal opinions, briefs and memoranda.
4.Acts as trial counsel.
5.Researches, prepares and renders legal opinions for the Sanitary District.
6.Prepares and negotiates contracts.
7.Negotiates pre-trial settlements.

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
1.Knowledge of New York State laws affecting municipalities.
2.Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
3.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and the general public.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience
Admission to the Bar of the State of New York.
