The Nassau County Civil Service Commission has commenced the implementation of electronic canvassing. Canvass letters will be sent to the email address provided on examination applications. To help prevent emails going to spam please save no-reply@nassaucountyny.gov to your contacts. However, you should check your inbox and junk/spam folder frequently. The Commission does not accept responsibility for non-delivery or postal delivery delays of US Mail or emails. Some agencies will still be canvassing by US Mail until the transition period has been completed. It is the responsibility of the candidate to notify this Commission, in writing of any change of name, mailing/legal/email address. You must respond to all letters received – MORE THAN TWO NO-RESPONSES TO CANVASS LETTERS WILL RESULT IN THE REMOVAL OF A CANDIDATE FROM THE ELIGIBLE LIST.

Qualifications reviews all applications, for both examinations and employment, in Nassau County Departments and municipalities within the County. qualifications@nassaucountyny.gov
Recruitment administers all Civil Service exams and is responsible for preparing examination announcements and reconciling examination results from the New York State Civil Service Commission, prior to the establishment of eligible lists.recruitment@nassaucountyny.gov. Law Enforcement administers the entry level Police Officer examination and is responsible for coordinating all phases of the qualifying process for law enforcement positions. Placement establishes, maintains and certifies eligible lists. It is also responsible for verifying that competitive class appointments are made in accordance with Civil Service Law. placement@nassaucountyny.gov
Transactions is responsible for serving as a liaison between the Commission, and the County departments and municipal agencies. ONLINE EXAMINATION APPLICATION PROCESS
The Nassau County Civil Service Commission utilizes an ONLINE EXAMINATION APPLICATION PROCESS on this website for both open competitive and promotional examinations.
The advantages of filing electronically include the storage of submitted applications in a candidate’s personal user account, and the acceptance of application processing fee payments by credit/debit card. Applicants are responsible for updating their personal user account with accurate contact information, including accurate email addresses.
Additionally, the Nassau County Civil Service Commission’s Open Competitive Exam Announcements or Promotion Exam Announcements web page includes a link to Job Descriptions as well as to Job Interest Cards.
Individuals interested in Nassau County Civil Service employment can now view class specifications and can easily fill out a form to sign up to receive email notifications when an open competitive examination for a particular title is announced. |
